Khvedelidze enters politics

Spouse of Billionaire Bidzina Ivanishvili Ekaterine Khvedelidze has decided to enter politics in the country since being granted Georgian citizenship. Rezonansi asked several public figures for their opinion on her decision.

Director Nukri Kantaria said that that he welcomes Khvedelidze’s decision and added that she was compelled to make such a decision as her husband is not allowed to set up a political party as he is being denied citizenship of Georgia. “It is very logical that she decided to enter politics. It proves that Ivanishvili and his family feel responsible for trying to change the state of affairs in Georgia. This will definitely be a formal issue and Bidzina and his team will be standing behind her,” he said.

Artist Imeda Kakhiani thinks that before making a choice people should consider it carefully first. “When there were the first elections we all supported Gamsakhurdia, when there was Shevardnadze we all supported him and the same thing with Saakashvili. Such unanimous support brought no good to us, so we should think carefully before we decide. As for Khvedelidze, I do not know her but I am sure she has good intentions and wishes to do good things for our country,” Kakhiani said.
