2011 successful for Georgian railways

The Director General of Georgian Railways Irakli Ezugbaia summarizing the year 2011 stated that the organization’s revenues increased in 2011 by almost one quarter and reached GEL 489 mln, whereas net profit reached GEL 145 mln. There are plans to increase the salaries of employees this year, which has not been the case for several years.

Construction of a new track bypassing Tbilisi is underway. The project will be finished by 2013. Initially a large portion of the financing was to be received from EBRD however it was later decided that the company itself would finance the project.
