American Friendship Club sends Georgian wine to Obama
Wednesday, February 1

The gift was presented at the meeting between Obama and Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on January 30, in recognition of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Club president Ilia Zukakishvili explained that Mukuzani, a dry red produced by Teliani Valley, was chosen specifically because it won a 2010 wine competition in the U.S. He also hopes that the gift serves as more than just a symbolic gesture of friendship between the Georgian and American peoples, but that it will also prompt a popularization of Georgian wines in America.
In 2009, the club presented U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden with a red Saperavi wine.
