Do you think Georgia should restore diplomatic relations with Russia?

Monday, March 6
"As a Georgian citizen, I deeply believe that without having civilized relations with our neighbours we would hardly succeed. That’s why not only diplomatic, but trade relations with Russia should also be improved.”
Beka, Lawyer, 27

“Restoration of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia is inevitable. I think the two neighbuoring countries can consider the interests of their people and try hard to find the same values. Politics shouldn’t harm ordinary citizens. There are lots of Georgians in Russia and vice versa, so politicians have to do something to find the best diplomatic solution.”
Sandro, Writer, 36

“Georgia must restore diplomatic relations with Russia, because it's hard for people to have a permanently stressed situation with our neighbours. Besides, a lot of Georgians live in Russia and a lot of Russians live in our country – thus we need to restore peace.”
Salome, Journalist, 22

"I think that relations should be restored with Russia for several reasons. First, there are lots of Georgians in Russia, for whom coming into the homeland would be easier. Also, the Russian market and good relations with Russia would be positive for the Georgian economy. However, I do not suppose the Russian President will follow his Georgian counterpart’s goodwill in this regard.”
Vaja, pensioner, 70

“Let them give us back our own territories, leave our country, and [then] I am not against restorations of relations. I am not really against this, we should have good relations with our neighbouring Christian state.”
Keti, MA student, 23

“I do not agree with restoration of diplomatic relations with Russia unless they refuse to recognize Abkhazia and so-called South Ossetia’s independence.”
Nino, Journalist, 25

“I don't think it can have any result. Relations can be restored only after the President of Russia is changed.”
