Scale of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program Increased

Project Harmony Inc. (PH International) in Georgia has been implementing the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program since 2010. The Program is being operated in collaboration with support the Ministry of Education and Education and Science of Georgia, with the financial support of USAID.

The Program has been carried out in about 500 schools of Georgia. As a result of increased financial support from USAID, an additional 260 schools will be added to the Program. The updated Program will cover 30% of schools throughout Georgia.

Today, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, Dimitri Shashkini, and USAID Caucasus Mission Director Stephen Haykin signed an Amendment to the Memorandum of Understanding between and among the United States Agency for International Development and the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.

As part of the event, the Manager of the Applied Civic Education and Teacher Training Program, Marina Ushveridze, held a presentation detailing the results of the Program. Students, who have been members of the program's Civic Clubs, discussed their experiences in the program.
