The Armenian government has decided to extend the term of their currently-functioning nuclear power plant at Metsamor for another four years.

The station was expected to close in 2016, but that deadline has been delayed until 2020.

Armenian officials say that the International Atomic Energy Agency gave its consent.

Armenia has also taken steps to launch construction of a new nuclear power station.
