Rehabilitation of Water Supply System in Poti

Residents of Poti will have clean and filtered water from a water supply station equipped with modern technologies. The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, Ramaz Nikolaishvili has visited Nosiri water supply works, met local residents and thanked employees for finishing construction works timely and properly.

42 thousand residents of the city of Poti are supplied with drinking water from Nosiri water supply station. Water supply was systematically delayed in Poti because of amortized system. Before starting the rehabilitation work, Poti was supplied with water only for 4-5 hour schedule per day. As a result of the works, the residents of Poti will get clean and good-quality water for 6 hours per day. The residents of Poti will receive 24 hour water supply after implementing the third stage of the works. The rehabilitation works were carried out in two stages: wells were rehabilitated, pumps of the pump station of Nosiri water supply station were installed, 2 water reservoirs were constructed, new clorination, equipped with modern technologies was arranged.

In the project, which is funded by the EIB, nearly 100 people were employed and most of them are local.

Rehabilitation of Central District in Chokhatauri

The Central District Rehabilitation of Chokhatauri is already completed. The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Ramaz Nikolaishvili together with the President’s Governor in Guria Region, Valeri Chitaishvili and the Director of Municipal Development Fund Levan Chichinadze has visited the rehabiltated central district of Chokhatauri. The Minister has also met the local population and thanked the unit employees for finishing the work timely and properly. 100 hundred people were employed on the rehabilitation works and most of them are local residents. Ramaz Nikolaishvili has presented the project of Culture House. The construction of the house will begin in August of this year and create additional more than 150 jobs.

The Central District of Chokhatauri has been out of order for years. The functionality of drainage channels was limited. The damaged road created problems for the residents of city during the movement.

Under the Project 2km. road on Dumbadze Street, the paths along the road, the Central Square of Chokhatauri and the second small square along the mentioned street were rehabilitated. The water intake wells of drainage canals have been renewed. Asphalt-concrete cover was paved on streets and squares. As a result, the problem of movement for the city residents has been finally settled. The rehabiliation works were implemented by the Municipal Development Fund of The Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia with the funding of Georgian Government and the Asian Development Bank.
