Rehabilitation of the resort Utsera

Rehabilitation work on the Utsera resort has already begun within the framework of the government’s 4 year action plan. The main priorities are the improvement of Georgia’s tourism potential, rural development and employment.

Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia Ramaz Nikolaishvili together with the governor of Racha-Lechkhumi and the Kvemo-Svaneti regions David Gagoshidze, has visited the rehabilitation site and has met local residents of the village. Utsera, is one of the oldest, most beautiful villages of Upper-Racha, and is located at an altitude of 1,042 meters and is unique place to undergo treatment. The high mountain climate and 28 kinds of mineral water, which flows by gravity, present the natural healing ability of Utsera. The damaged road hindered movement for local residents and visitors for years. Movement was impossible.

The rehabilitation of Oni-Utsera-Shovi a 10 km stretch of road connecting has started by the Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure. The drainage channels and concrete pipes are being installed. Three damaged bridges are being rehabilitated and asphalt-concrete cover is paved. 70 local residents are employed at the construction site and their number will be increased during the construction process. The rehabilitation of this section of the road will promote the improvement of the infrastructure in Utsera and the whole region, which will create attractive conditions for investments.
