GAZPROM increased natural gas price for Armenia

Currently, GAZPROM who provides natural gas to Armenia via Georgia is negotiation a price deal with Armenia. No detailed information about the pricing was available until today. It is considered to be a commercial secret. According to the available information, until 2012, the price of imported Russian gas to Armenia at the customs point is $219 for one-thousand cubic meters. However, official Yerevan as well as ArmRosGazProm claims that they buy Russian gas for $180. Commentators observing the current situation in Armenia say that Armenian government does not want to increase the natural gas price for the population before the presidential elections.
