Vera Kobalia and Giorgi Karbelashvili Meet Future Employees of Kutaisi Airport

The Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Vera Kobalia, visited Kutaisi and met with participants who won the competition aiming at finding employees for David Agmashenebeli Kutaisi International Airport. The meeting was held at the Kutaisi University and was attended by all winners of the competition. The Deputy Minister, Giorgi Karbelashvili and the Mayor of Kutaisi, Giorgi Tevdoradze, also participated in the event.

Vera Kobalia and Giorgi Karbelashvili congratulated the future employees of the airport on their success and talked about issues of relative importance to them. The minister noted that the new airport will stand out not only by its architecture and ultramodern systems, but, first and foremost, because of its professional staff and services. “While each of you enthusiastically completes all the planned training courses, I think that it is necessary to have bilateral communication in this process to deal with any– even a small problem fast. I am very content with the competition results, I await lots of new ideas from you and promise permanent support,” Vera Kobalia noted.

Starting from August, special training courses will be held for the competition winners, that includes theoretic, as well as practical teaching. It was noted at the meeting that such courses will be permanent and once each six-months, the airport employees will have an opportunity to improve their qualifications and be re-trained not only in Georgia but in foreign countries.

“I assure you that the Kutaisi Airport, where you are about to be employed, will stand out from many modern airports of the world by its beauty, architectural innovation, navigation and security systems and by its importance at an international and regional level; this is why I encourage you to gather and to visit the airport daily, starting from today, in order to observe the details of the construction and get involved in the ongoing process,” Giorgi Karbelashvili said to the participants of the meeting.

After the meeting at Kutaisi University, Vera Kobalia and Giorgi Karbelashvili went to the airport with the competition winners and observed the ongoing construction process. The representatives of the airport contractor companies met the future employees and provided them with detailed information on the completed and current projects, they let the employees see the most modern, 2,600 meter-long airfield and the navigation watch-tower that is currently being built. As a result of the competition, more than one-hundred people will be employed at David Agmashenebeli Kutaisi International Airport. The first flight will be welcomed in the beginning of September of the current year.
