Construction of two parallel overpasses on E-60 Sveneti-Ruisi highway, a 15-kilometer section has been completed. The Minister of Regional Development and Infrastructure inspected the final stage of construction and personally attended the testing process of the overpass. The overpasses, in both directions (east and west direction), are located on the Liakhvi River and surrounding dry valley. The overpasses are standing on 42 columns; the length of each overpass is 880 meters with a width of 11.5 meters each. Lighting systems of international standards were installed on the overpasses, which is characterized by a power-saving light. During the construction period of the overpass, 700 stable jobs were created, and most of those employed were local Georgian citizens.

After beginning opening of the overpass, the cars and traffic on the E-60 East - West highway will become faster and safer. Prior to the construction of the overpass, the artificial structures that were in place were not up to international standards.

The new overpasses are equipped with modern anti-seismic bearings, and full comply with international standards. It should be noted that this type of construction is carried out for the first time in Georgia. In the construction of the overpasses on Sveneti - Ruisi section of the highway, a unique, French method was used by a French-Turkish company Freysas-Freyssinet.

The overpass construction was financed by the World Bank and the Georgian government. The Roads Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure implemented the construction work.
