How satisfied are you with the Georgian roads infrastructure?

Tuesday, September 11
“Well, I like the new highways constructed in Georgia, but I do not like when those newly constructed roads need repairing. I think this is because the quality of the roads is not satisfactory and this is something the Ministry of Regional Development should pay more attention to.”
Neli, teacher, 42

“Of course I am satisfied. I cannot talk about the regions but what I see in Tbilisi this is really very nice. I am a driver and I see a very big difference before and after those new roads, they prevent cars from being caught in traffic jams– especially during rush hour. I thing one of the best plans of the new road infrastructure is Hero's Square.”
Natia, student, 20

“Let us not talk only on Tbilisi.. What about in the regions? They are repairing only main highways and inside the major towns and cities. I have been in the mountainous regions of Georgia and the roads are just terrific. A lot of people know that a number of visitors and tourists as well as locals are dying due to road accidents on those terrible roads but who cares. This is a bit surprising for me when I listen to the government talking about tourism development and offer tourists Khevsureti, Svaneti, Tusheti where you should be very brave to get there.”
Beka, economist, 36

“Georgian road infrastructure cannot be taken as ideal, but in general I think that situation on Georgian roads is quite satisfactory.”
Nino, Journalist, 25

“In general, good road infrastructure is the best way to travel easily and comfortable. However, such infrastructure is surprising in Georgia. Of course roads are here and they are also being rehabilitated. However, in most cases, the quality of the roads is low.”
Shota, Student, 21

“Road infrastructure is really awful in Georgia. The main problem is that the government is trying to construct everything in on such short terms and do not pay attention to the quality. Even bridges are being built in record time.”
Tato, employed, 22

“I like some roads– especially in Georgian highways, but there are a lot of infrastructural problems in the small villages: people have to move on foot from village to village because there are no decent roads for transport.”
