Information on the Georgian Foreign Minister's visit to Germany

On the 12th of October, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Grigol Vashadze, paid a working visit to the Federal Republic of Germany, where he held a bilateral meeting with the Federal Chancellor's Advisor on Foreign and Security Policy, Christoph Heusgen.

Discussions between the two focused upon the results of the recent parliamentary elections held in Georgia and emphasized the significance of these elections' democratic nature and their importance. Heusgen showed interest in the process by which power will be transferred following the elections as well as in Georgia's future foreign political course.

Vashadze and Heusgen also discussed the recent successes Georgia has achieved in terms of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the irreversibility and continuity of this process.

Heusgen reaffirmed his governments' unequivocal support for Georgia's territorial integrity and for the policy of not recognizing Georgia's occupied territories. Talking points also included prospects for further deepening partnership and various other issues concerning bilateral partnership and issues of regional and international importance.

The Advisor to the Federal Chancellor thanked the Georgian Foreign Minister for his active and fruitful co-operation over the past few years.

On the 11th of October, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Grigol Vashadze, paid a working visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland where he held a bilateral meeting with his British counterpart, the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, William Hague.

Discussions between the two focused upon the results of the recent parliamentary elections held in Georgia. The Ministers emphasized the significance of these elections' democratic nature and their importance. Hague showed interest in the process by which power will be transferred following the elections as well as in Georgia's future foreign political course.

The Ministers also discussed the recent successes Georgia has achieved in terms of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and the irreversibility and continuity of this process.
