The Russian state-controlled gas distribution company Gasprom, has increased by a quarter, the total volume providing natural gas to Armenia. This is due to the fact that consumption of natural gas increased in Armenia– the increase was in both the industrial sector as well as the consumer sector. The gas distribution in Armenia is provided by ArmRosGasprom. 80% of this company which is a monopoly importer of natural gas in Armenia belongs to the Russian Gasprom. 20% belongs to the Armenian government. It is significant to remember that this gas comes from Armenia to Russia via Georgia and Georgia certainly gains some profit from this.
