Seeking to ensure rule of law in Georgia

The Parliament of Georgia is launching a wide-scale discussion on ensuring a transparent and accountable system of justice and respect for the principles of the rule of law.

A roundtable on Saturday brought together representatives of the Georgian Parliament, Ministry of Justice, judiciary, academia, civil society and international organizations.

The participants discussed the issues of fair trails, effective redress of harm suffered and amnesty and pardon in criminal law. Head of the Parliament’s Human Rights Committee Eke Beselia presented a draft Law on Amnesty.

The round table was organized by the Parliament of Georgia with assistance from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
