Russian president Vladimir Putin gave orders to relevant bodies to make it easier for the Russian citizens living in former Soviet Union territory to receive Russian citizenship if they want to live and work in Russia and who consider this country as their home. According to the head of Armenia’s immigration service Irina Davtyan, this position will be encouraging factor for those people who want to give up their present citizenship and move to Russia. Georgian analyst Soso Tsiskarishvili thinks that Russia is going to solve its demographic problems at the expense of the former Soviet Republics. Tsiskarishvili also highlighted that there are not many people from Georgia who want to permanently immigrate to Russia.
