Borjomi back to Russia

After almost seven years, Georgian mineral water Borjomi was allowed back to the Russian market. Now sanitary-technical issues should be arranged and as soon as this will be over, the first lots of Borjomi water will appear on the Russian market. It has become known that by the end of December 2012, the controlling package of IDS Borjomi Beverages was purchased by the Russian company Alfa Group. The ban on Georgian mineral waters on the Russian market since 2006 was a serious blow to Georgian agriculture. Nobody doubted in Georgia that this was a political decision. Borjomi has successfully tried to enter different markets worldwide, but its desire for the Russian market remained. It should be also mentioned that most Russian consumers welcome the return of Borjomi, as they still remember the taste of the famous Georgian mineral water and are looking forward to its appearance back in the Russian super markets. Presumably, Borjomi’s return will pave the way to other Georgian mineral waters such as Nabeghlavi.
