New airfield opens near Tbilisi

Thursday, June 20
A new airport was opened on June 13 in Natakhtari village called Service Air, about 20 kilometers from the capital Tbilisi. It is the private business of Amiran Manjavidze who invested solid money organizing the runway, airport building, security systems, hotel, restaurant, swimming pool and other infrastructure for the airport.

He dreams to organize a hub for domestic flights at this place for small passenger planes. Apart from promoting tourism, providing small private planes to the people interested in flying, the complex opened last week offers horse riding tours, amateur pilot training programs, and other activities.

Manjavidze’s initiative also envisions a school for training pilots and has already prepared 47 pilots who have later become engaged in the Georgian Air Force.
