The Georgian government is taking special measures designed to fight against tobacco and smoking habits. The first step considers the increase in the price of cigarettes by making it a luxury product. From September 1, 2013, the state plans to increase an excise tax for cigarettes. New legislation will also make it harder for under-age children to purchase tobacco products.
