Ilia II’s trip to Moscow-Kiev-Minsk underway from Tuesday

The Front News webpage reports that on the occasion of the 1025 anniversary of the Epiphany of Russia, patriarch Ilia II will visit Russia on July 23 followed by visits to Kiev and Minsk till July 30 where the festive events have been scheduled.

According to the information of the Patriarchate, Ilia II will meet with the leadership of all three churches. While meeting Russian Patriarch Kiril, Ilia II will focus on the themes “that have always been between the Georgian and Russian Churches” including the issue of Abkhazia and the transfer of the relics of the Georgian kings.

Spokesperson of the Patriarchate, Maia Gagua, told Front News that a delegation of the members of the patriarchate will accompany Ilia II on his trip.



Heavy rain affects Samegrelo region

The Guria News webpage reports that the heavy rain of July 19 affected the locals of Samegrelo. Causing flooding in the Tsalenjikha region, the rain affected 10 villages of the municipality by entering the ground floors of the houses and destroying plants. The vulnerable families living at the local hospital also faced certain difficulties.

According to the officials of the Tsalenjikha municipality, the heavy rain badly damaged the houses and gardens and killed the poultry. The rehabilitation work has been immediately launched.

The heavy rain had the similar consequences in several villages of Zugdidi as well. Local officials visited the site, while the emergency services stayed at the spot for the whole night.

According to the National Environment Agency, bad weather will remain in the country till July 28, while afterwards the temperature is supposed to rise to 30 degrees.
