Italy becomes largest trade partner of Azerbaijan

Italy has been the largest trade partner of Azerbaijan over the first eight months of this year.

In January-August, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Italy totaled $3.9 billion or 17.14% of total trade turnover of Azerbaijan over eight months this year, a source in the State Customs Committee told 1news.az.

Azerbaijan exported goods worth $3.7 billion to Italy and imported goods worth $163,159 in January-August.

Italy is followed by Indonesia which accounts for 8.52% of total trade turnover of Azerbaijan. The trade between the two countries reached $1.96 bn.

Russia comes third with its share in the country’s trade totaling $1.75bn or 7.61% of total trade turnover of Azerbaijan.

The top ten trade partners of Azerbaijan include Germany - $1.379bn, Thailand - $1.348bn, Turkey - $1.331bn, France - $1.174bn, United Kingdom - $1.134bn, US - $885,276 m and Israel - $787,58 m.

The largest importer of Azerbaijan was Italy while Russia emerged as the largest exporter.
