Tuesday, November 12
Astana held the second international transport and logistics business forum on Friday. The Georgian Railway signed an agreement to establish a coordination committee for the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport route as part of New Silk Road forum.

Besides the Georgian Railway, the document was signed by the Kazakh and Azerbaijani railways, the ports of Aktau and Baku.

Georgian Railway told Trend on Friday that the purpose of the coordination committee is to attract cargo on this route, to carry out the coordinated tariff policy with a view to set transparent tariffs, to ensure the competitiveness of the route and to create a joint integrated logistics product.

According to the agreement, a working group that will work out the provisions on the committee will be set up within 30 days after its signing.

According to the Georgian Railway, this initiative will contribute to transport not only the Central-Asian, but also Chinese cargo (mainly containers) along the TRACECA corridor.
