Drivers to have problems

Georgia will start technical inspection of cars from 2015. According to the official data, more than 300,000 cars in Georgia are older than 20 years. This is about 1/3 of the total amount of the cars running in the country.

An estimated 2/3 of all cars running in Georgia will not comply with the requirements of the technical inspection. It will be very expensive either to fix old cars or to maintain them.

This will create problems for the country’s population, as many families currently support their families by working as taxi drivers.

Many old cars (mini vans in particular) are used for distribution services. So, all these people will lose their jobs because it will be expensive to fix their old cars according to the new standards or buy new cars.

Many car owners have already started taking measures to get rid of their old cars. This creates a reduction in the prices for the old cars considerably.

Some analysts predict serious social turbulence to result from this new law.
