London University Professor delivers lecture in the MoD

Friday, November 6
The Ministry of Defence of Georgia invited Professor of Criminal Law Kevin Jon Heller, of the University of London, Georgia.

Today, Prof. Kevin Jon Heller delivered a lecture on the topic “The ICC`s Formal Investigation into the Situation in Georgia: Legal and Evidentiary Issues” in the Professional Development Centre of National Defence Academy (NDA) of Georgia.

The lecture proceeded in the format of discussions and debates. The representatives of structural units of the MoD and General Staff discussed the themes with the British Professor.

“I am staying in Georgia to deliver the lecture to the Ministry of Defence and General Staff personnel on very important topics such as war crimes and crimes against humanity, specifically that took place during the war in 2008. At the moment, we do not know the results of the ongoing investigation into those crimes. This is the first enquiry being conducted by the International Criminal Court and the outcome will be very interesting,” said the British Professor.

The British guest also offered his lecture to the NDA Command and Staff Course attendee.

Within a week-long visit to Georgia, Professor Kevin Jon Heller will deliver the lecture for the attendees of the NDA, the Giorgi Antsukhelidze NCO Training Centre and other different higher educational establishments.
