Annual Inflation 5.6% in February

Georgia’s annual inflation rate stood at 5.6% in February, the same as in the previous month, according to the state statistics office Geostat.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.1% in February.

Annual inflation in alcoholic beverages and cigarettes was among the highest across all groups of goods and services in February at 14.3%, apparently attributed to increase of excise tax on tobacco.

Food prices were up 4.6% in February, compared to the same month of last year, and prices in healthcare group increased 10.5% year-on-year.

Prices in transport group were down by 1.5% y/y in February.
