The British Ambassador to Georgia HE Justin McKenzie Smith held a reception for the presentation of the honorary award of Member of the British Empire to Ms. Sophiko Katsarava on November 3.

Sophiko Katsarava was awarded an Honorary MBE from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for services to UK-Georgian relations, especially for her efforts to UK Georgia Academic relations.

The award is in recognition of Sophiko’s work to develop UK Georgia bilateral relations at all levels during her 11 years of service at the British Embassy Tbilisi. Her achievements include her work in ensuring the Chevening Scholarship scheme in Georgia is one of the UK’s flagship programmers and creation of an effective alumni network. It is also in recognition of the work she has done to develop UK-Georgian policy exchanges through active participation in the Wilton Park conference series.

The devoted work and dedication of Sophiko resulted in her becoming a member of Georgian Parliament.
