New ropeway to connect Batumi Botanical Garden and Black Sea coast

Wednesday, November 8
The Georgian Tourism Development Fund has revealed details of its major hotel project on the Green Cape in the Black Sea resort of Batumi today.

The project will see a five-star recreational complex developed on the Green Cape, where the famous Batumi Botanical Garden is located. Once the complex is completed, it will include a new, modern ropeway that will connect the Green Cape with the Black Sea coast.

"It has been more than 25 years since the old ropeway constructed in the 80s has no longer been operational. Within our complex, the highest-level German company Doppelmayr will develop a new, public cableway, which will transport 5,000 people a day. Anyone will be able to get from the coast to the Green Cape in several minutes”, the Tourism Development Fund said in a press release.

Within the Green Cape recreational complex, there will be up to 250 rooms, indoor swimming pools, tennis, basketball and football fields, kid entertainment centres and a cinema. The hotel will be able to host high-class international conferences as well.

The complex will be adapted to the needs of people with disabilities, the Tourism Development Fund said. It will host guests all year round.

The Tourism Development Fund is a special fund created by Georgia’s Co-Investment Fund with the sole purpose to support development of Georgia’s tourism and hospitality sectors, and bring to life eight large-scale hotel projects worth $680 million USD.

More than 20,000 people will be employed during the construction of these eight new hotels while about 2,500 people will work in the new facilities once operational. (Agenda.ge)
