ERTI Gallery will host Levan Songulashvili's upcoming solo show The STYX. One of Europe’s most internationally renowned and respected curators and art historians, former president of the British Art Critics Association (AICA), Mark Gisbourne, will curate the exhibition.

The exhibition will open on April 4.

The STYX” series is comprised of large-scale canvases that feature large expanses of grey-black washes infused with an otherworldly light, vast tonal shifts and a primordial glow that hovers between the mythic and the bioluminescent.

Erti Gallery is based in Tbilisi, Georgia. Its main goal is to promote Georgian contemporary art both in Georgia and abroad, to create various opportunities for the Georgian artists’ self-expression internationally. The gallery focuses innovative art and creates a strong visual and cognitive impact. The exhibition program contains painting, photography, and distinct combination of new media art, video and installation-based work, drawings.

Erti Gallery works closely with established and emerging Georgian artists locally and internationally.

Songulashvili’s works will also be exhibited in Berlin starting March 16.

In the exhibition “Black I Sea”, “68projects” works by the Berlin painter Christian Awe and by Georgian painter Levan Songulashvili will be presented. The show combines powerful, life-affirming color compositions by Awe with the black and white philosophical approach to painting by Songulashvili.

Located opposite the Kornfeld venue on Berlin’s Fasanenstrasse, 68projects is a "150 square meter artist project space” in the capital city that works to support "selected individual artists”.

The event will highlight Songulashvili’s artistic themes on jellyfish and underwater plants, exhibited at galleries in the United States and Georgia during the recent years.

Born in Tbilisi, 1991, Songulashvili is a New York- based visual artist.

In 2017, USA has recognized him as an extraordinary artist and awarded him with an EB1 Permanent residence Green Card E16 Category — Alien with Extraordinary Ability, which is known colloquially as a "genius visa".

In January 2018, Songulashvili has been named The Top Artist of the Year 2017 from Artist A Day, heading an end-of-year selection of creators from around the world on the platform.

Songulashvili’s work is held in public and private collections worldwide. He is the first Georgian artist, whose works were selected for the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Museum, NY, along with the paintings of legendary artists.
