Art-Gene Fest 2018

Art-Gene Festival kicked off on July 8 at the Open Air Museum of Ethnography and will last until July 15.

Folk arts enthusiasts had a chance to see contemporary exhibitions and listen to various artists, including Nino Katamadze, Asea Sool, Robi Kukhianidze, etc.

A week-long program also included Hip Hop Day this year.

On July 12, popular Georgian group ‘Frani’ will perform, while on July 13- Georgian ballet ‘Sukhishvilebi’.

The festival will be completed by the popular Georgian folk-rock band Niaz Diasamidze & 33a on July 15.

Guests will enjoy traditional organic food prepared by locals, including bread, barbeque, cheese and wine.

Art Gene Festival is an initiative of Georgian NGO “Union of Art Gene”, formed by the group of friends whose mission was to identify problems with traditional and folk culture and find ways to solve them.

The Festival is attended by all generations since it covers the widest range of cultural activities including: arts, crafts, folk music, modern music, martial weaponry, cloisonne enamel, apiculture (beekeeping), basket making, knitting, sewing, embroidery, gobelin, cloth and felt making, musical instruments, pottery and ceramics, etc.

The festival is supported by Tbilisi City Hall, TBC Bank, Georgian National Museum, DHL, Zedazeni, etc.
