Echowaves in Anaklia

New electronic music festival ‘ECHOWAVES’ will take place on August 23-26 in Black Sea town - Anaklia within the frames of Check in Georgia 2018.

The festival is organized by EXIT Festival, owner of the title of the best festival in 2014. More than 150 international and local artists will perform on 5 diverse stages at Anaklia beach (Main Stage, KHIDI Stage, EYE Stage, TAIYO Stage, Aqua Stage).

Famous South African hip hop group – Die Antwoord - will perform among others duting the festival.

The aim of the 4 day festival is to make a significant contribution to the cultural development of the region and create an attractive tourist attraction.

Except for music, the festival includes sports, recreational activities, various artistic or cultural events, social and educational projects.

The budget of the festival is 6 162 360 GEL, from which the National Tourism Administration is financing Anaklia EchoWaves by 4 160 000 GEL.

The government allocated funds for Anaklia Echo Waves Festival instead of the Georgian Electronic Music Festival (GEM Fest) this year, which was the month-long electronic music festival, held for the third time in Georgia from July 14 to August 14 in Georgia’s Black Sea town of Anaklia in 2017.

The festival lineup includes Solomun, Die Antwoord, Juan Atkins, Dzijan Emin, GPO, Francesco Tristano, Guti live, etc.

Die Antwoord is a South African hip hop group formed in Cape Town in 2008. The group comprises rappers Ninja and Yolandi Visser, a male/female duo, and producer god (formerly DJ Hi-Tek). In 2009, Die Antwoord released their debut album $O$ for free online and attracted international attention for their music video "Enter the Ninja".

Juan Atkins is an American musician. He is credited as the originator of Detroit techno.
