Rustaveli Theatre to perform in Moscow

Sturua's performance - "Vano and Niko" will take place on June 8-9 in Moscow.

Moscow hosts Chekhov International Theatre festival this summer.

As a critic Davit Bukhrikidze told Radio Liberty, the organizers of the Chekhov Festival are close to President Putin.

"Putin's government uses this festival as a political and social instrument. The only right decision is to say, "No, I will not go to the occupying country..." Davit Bukhrikidze said.

He also stressed that the national theatre has a bigger responsibility than the others.

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia has not commented yet.



Lecturer accused of sexual harassment

Suliko Tebidze, the chairman of Batumi City Council and the lecturer at Batumi Shota Rustaveli University was accused of sexual harassment by the second year student of the University.

In case of the confirmation of the sexual harassment allegations, the issue of the impeachment will be raised.

Tebidze has already been suspended from his duty as a lecturer.

Investigation is underway under Article 150 of the Criminal Code, which, in case of the confirmation, entails a fine or correctional work for one year or imprisonment for the same term.
