Meeting of Council of Investors held chaired by PM Gharibashvili

"We hope to finish this year with a double-digit economic growth rate, which is very important for us. This is what gave us the opportunity to increase the next year's budget," Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili said at the session of the Investors Council.

According to the head of the government, the country also had an increase in direct foreign investment, and during the first 6 months of 2022, the volume of direct foreign investment increased by 2 times and more compared to the figures of the previous year and amounted to 922 million dollars, which is also an important reason for optimism.

In addition to the issues to be discussed at the meeting of the Council, at today's meeting, the Prime Minister informed the members of the Council about the current political and economic situation in the country. The Prime Minister also presented to the council members the vision of the government on new projects, initiatives and priorities planned for next year.



Occupying forces illegally detain a citizen of Georgia, State Security Service says

In the occupied territory near the village of Bershueti of Gori municipality, the representatives of the occupying forces illegally detained a citizen of Georgia. The information was released by the State Security Service of Georgia.

According to the State Security Service, the hotline was activated on the fact of illegal detention, the European Union monitoring mission and the co-chairs of the international discussions in Geneva, international partners, were informed about the incident.

"All existing levers have been activated and work is underway with international partners to release persons in illegal detention. The illegal detentions carried out by the occupying forces damage the security environment on the ground and make the daily life of the local population extremely difficult. Full responsibility for this is borne by the occupying power", the statement reads.
