Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili Meets with UK Minister of State Leo Docherty

Irakli Garibashvili, the Prime Minister of Georgia, met with Leo Docherty, the Minister of State of the United Kingdom for Europe and North America.

The meeting within the Government Administration centered on discussing the current strategic partnership between the two countries and collaboration in both bilateral and multilateral formats. Dignitaries assessed the potential for enhancing cooperation across various fields. The significance of the ongoing "Wardrop Strategic Dialogue" between Georgia and the United Kingdom, contributing to strengthened collaboration in various fields, was underscored in this context.

The positive recommendation from the European Commission on Georgia's EU candidate status received special attention during the discussion. The meeting also addressed environmental challenges both in the region and globally. Emphasis was placed on Georgia's potential positive role in enhancing security and stability in the South Caucasus. Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili affirmed Georgia's commitment to continuing its contributions to regional peace and stability.

Irakli Garibashvili shared information with the visiting British government official about the ongoing reforms implemented by the Government of Georgia. He expressed gratitude to the United Kingdom for its contribution to strengthening state institutions and promoting democratic development in the country.

The Prime Minister of Georgia also drew attention to the security and humanitarian situation in the occupied territories of Georgia, thanking Leo Docherty for his unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili also met with UK Minister Docherty and discussed bilateral ties, regional challenges, and Georgia's mediation role for peace. Emphasizing energy connectivity, Docherty praised Georgia's role. They reviewed the 'Wardrop Strategic Dialogue' and plans for its 9th round in Tbilisi. The visit is part of Docherty's regional tour amid growing UK interest.
