Tamar Bagrationi, wife of Georgian Dream-elected President Mikheil Kavelashvili, is in Washington, D.C. to take part in the "Fostering the Future Together" summit on March 24-25, hosted by U.S. First Lady Melania Trump.
The event is being held at the United States Department of State and the White House, bringing together first spouses and representatives from 45 countries and 28 technology companies, according to the White House.
Speaking at a working session on March 24, Bagrationi thanked Melania Trump for organizing the summit, saying the initiative had united dozens of countries around children's issues. Framing her remarks as a mother of four, she spoke about the difficulty of balancing children's safety with the need to let them grow, explore, and benefit from technological progress.
She said this balance requires ensuring both protection and opportunity, describing it as a challenge shared by families worldwide. Bagrationi also highlighted Georgia's ongoing digital transformation, referring to a "middle way" approach aimed at combining innovation with the protection of rights and children's safety.
Ahead of the session, pro-government and U.K.-sanctioned broadcaster Imedi TV aired footage showing Bagrationi at the State Department with Georgian Dream MP Mariam Lashkhi. The clip showed her touring an exhibition on innovation and technology and speaking with other participants.
